Templar by BergOne Templar by BergOne
They brought light to the dark of the Godmachine. They defended the paths of prilgrimage and stood between the Cogniators and the things that crawled from the nightmares of the makine. They were the warriors which the Never Metropolis have not seen the like. But as all things in the perpetual rain they tarnished, and were declared Apostate by the Hierophant. Their holdings and lives forfit. So the Templars of the Godmachine vanished into the dark beneath and into legend.

I keep working on the inspiration given to me by Goor. Here is piece number two. Enjoy

Thank you. The world of Godmachine is a postapocalyptic nightmare concept that I am visiting from time to time, building it one image and one concept at at time. Nothing more.

I only have one complaint why would a warrior wear full body armor or almost full body armor and go into combat with sandals, instead of iron, or strong enforced boots, standard issue from the military unit they are apart of.

It just seem awkward, aside from that its good.

;) Because the templars where this kind of armor as ordained in the Call to Arms handed down in the founding transcript of the Coginatordreams, chapter 67, verse 9, Volume 212 of The Books of Apocrypha.

Or so the legend will have it.

Many people believe that warriors need to be shown in the midst of combat in order to portray the price that must be paid for the things they have done. She isn't posturing or posing, she doesn't have a triumphant, badass glare or smirk to show viewers how great a warrior she is supposed to be. She is simply the last one standing, thankful and relieved at this fact.

btw, that smoke from the handgun says more about the ferocity of what she has just faced than any amount of gore on the blade could have. I can't stop looking at it.

A very powerful image.

I do, however, have a couple of very, very minor criticisms. First, The moisture visible on the skin of her upper thighs and upturned face is at odds with the other surfaces. I'm not sure of your methods for manipulating the light and shadow created by moisture, but it seems to me that even near-invisible rain streaks on her carapace would leave faint shadowing and light distortion.

Second, the way her boots end right at the knee feels...unworkable? Uncomfortable? Lower boots, or a knee guard of some kind would feel like a more natural design. Most combat troops and police SWAT teams include a knee guard of some kind in order to protect against the punishment a warfighter's knees can take.

Lastly, The angle of her "mini bat'leth", as well as the texture of the grip, seem a bit off. The length of the blade looks twisted, and the texture of the grip makes it look kind of spongy.

Again, this are minor nitpicks. One has to work hard to find fault with you work, after all. ;)

Thanks,

I really appricate you taking your time giving me such a detailed feedback. The moisture, well I'll chalk that up to lack of skill or thought, really. This was a piece done in mys uperhero guise the Procrastinator. I should have been reading for my exam (and I paid the price for that).

The boots are all a part of the outfit Hear no Evil by Aery Soul. I considered switching the legwear with some brilliant boots I got in my runtime, but I wanted this to be as pure Aery Soul as possible (and I love that outfit). At the same time estetics doesn't always equate realism. And in the world of the Godmachine, well that's how they Templararmor looks like ;)

The grip of the blade looks that way cause when I replace the original I forgot to add a bump/displace map to make it more of a Grip. Sadly I didn't notice until you drew my attention to it.

You are right these are minor nitpicks, but I like to present my work as good as possible, and these small things annoy the hell out of me, 'cause they wouldn't have taken that long to fix. Guess I just have to spend more time on the next one.

That being said. Thank you. Thank you for bothering, and actually giving me this kind of feedback. It is the only way I can improve, and I am gratful that you like my image enough to take your time writing this.
